Not particularly pretty, but a giant sea monster is kind of supposed to look weird like that, i guess.

Nah, almost nothing about the plot was shown. They've really focused more on showing the mons themselves, a few action shots and a couple jokes.

JP says A-ru-se-u-su, or Ar-say-us. Ar-see-us should be more correct, but TPCi likely wanted to avoid issues in the UK and other non-NA areas where arse is used in place of ass. I say Ar-see-us like every time, and just chalk it all up to different strokes for different folks. I don't bother discussing the pronunciation of Sabin with people for the same reason.
