>>38096153>>38096278None of gen 7's starters have anything to do with Hawaii unless you buy into the patternfag autism about Decidueye, none of gen 5's have anything to do with the US despite covering aspects of most of the rest of the world, and out of all 12 of the gen 1-4 starters Squirtle (and Wartortle) is the only one that references any specific aspect of Japanese culture, and even then the references are lost with Blastoise.
This autism only ever applied to Delphox and Chesnaught (and arguably Decidueye and now Scorbunny). Gamefreak doesn't design its starters around the region's real life basis and that's a good thing. Imagine how boring and predictable it would've been if gen 5 had just given us cowboy starters or something.
