Virgin mega evolution:exclusive to one pokemon.Designs are just bigger versions.Confusing lore.Have to develop more designs every time you want more.
Chad z moves:On any pokemon of that type,so it rewards you even if you dont have a certain pokemon.Moves are cool as fuck and well animated.Exclusives z moves are on legendarys or pokemon that people wanted z-moves for.Lore isnt a dumpster fire and fits in with the main plot.Able to be used as a multi gen gimmick without needing additions.

Still do. It's an awful fix to old pokemon and increases the already retarded amount of items you have to shoehorn in every single pokemon game. It also limits team building as you are practically forced to have one on your team and since it's so powerful you might as well make the rest of your team revolve around it. Also they almost all look ugly.

I still do at any rate. I accept they're part of Pokémon now and would have accepted them more readily, had they been done properly to buff all fully evolved/single stage shitmons (likely excluding Spinda, in fairness), but their implementation was just so ham-fisted.

Being forced to hold a mega stone instead of something like life orb is what puts megas in check. You still want to run a mega most of the time because there a lot of viable megas and one of them is likely gonna fit perfectly in your team. Despite this though, about 1/4 of all high ladder OU teams don't run any mega, because they're arguably less necessary than smogon cat & co.

Megas/Primals/Battle Bond are dumb because:
Gamefreak gave them to a bunch of Pokemon that didn't need power boosts. Would've been great opportunities to give Pokemon normally shoved to the wayside by the community some love.
Charizard/Mewtwo didn't need two. The time and money spent designing those two (three, since Mewtwo didn't need any to begin with) could've been used on others.
They shouldn't have even bothered if that's what they were going to do with Latias and Latios.
The Red Orb and Blue Orb activating upon entry is retarded.
Mega Rayquaza not requiring a stone/orb is even more retarded.
Primals not counting towards the 1 Mega limit is BATSHIT retarded.
There's so much potential in a +100 BST with possible stat rearrangement and a new ability, but they still managed to make some Megas completely not worth your while.
Some of them look might look really cool and add some much needed flair to the base Pokemon's concept, but some just look REALLY bad. Tyranitar immediately comes to mind.
Actually making a link between the games and that horrible mess of an anime.

I really love the idea of a temporary power boost, but Gamefreak really shat the bed with this one.

I almost never came back to the franchise because I heard about this and decided it was all furries and Digi-ball Z-mon now, but at least they were sidelined in Sun and Moon. After a while there are some designs I can at least tolerate but for the most part new real evolutions and split forms are 100000x better.
