I thought with RBY being re-released on the eShop, it made perfect sense to have Kantonian forms for ‘mons imported from the gen 1 games. Fat Pikachu, the old Koffing design. Normal type Jigglypuff and pure Electric Magnemite made sense too, what with super effectiveness appearing next to moves in the battle interface area, which I thought was justified because these Pokemon wouldn’t look different from their usual forms, but had different types.
