all anyone wanted to see after the kalos league was Ash to suffer and what better way to do that than by adapting the novel where he lives a miserable life? it would've been the perfect catharsis

Shudo's depression basically. Gym leaders get shit pay and are fired after 3 losses. 10 year olds are legal adults, they can go to jail, pay mortgages and get married. . Brock has like 20 stepdads, one for each sibling. Real animals are going extinct and being replaced by pokemon.

Ash's dad and grandad are deadbeats who who fail but continue their own journeys. Mysterious monkey man (possibly a pokemon) sweeps Ash 6-0 in the Indigo league. Pikachu leads a pokemon rebellion against humans. Ash wakes up as an old man and pokemon don't exist.

1. This wasn't in the novels, it's from his blog.
2. In the blog post, he even says that it's not an idea he seriously considered putting in the show, just a weird idea for a possible end he had one day that he felt like blogging about
3. The "Pokemon don't exist" thing is a mistranslation. Old Ash was just having a dream where he recalled the travels he made in his youth. He didn't dream up the Pokemon world.

one of the movie 20's concepts was ash meeting all his companions again obviously the writers prefered muh deep scenes instead of that idea
