>decided to attempt the Emerald Battle Frontier and get all of the gold symbols
>played 9 hours today
>would always get cucked at the Battle Factory because the rentals I started with always got directly countered, even if I swapped 28 times prior
>highest streak today was 36
>decide to end the night with the Battle Tower
>battle 47
>Against a toxic stalling Ludicolo, Blissey and a Miltank with Double-Edge
>finally got down to the Miltank
>took out my Flygon and Starmie, both after they got sp. atk STAB attack out
>mfw I have to start back at the beginning again

tough luck man, IIRC rental pokemon become better after a while, as in really useful but of course the game is rigged to counter you perfectly after a while

The more you swap, the better Pokémon you can start with. Problem is is that they gave me 3 Fire types and 2 Flying types when the next battle was against a Rock type trainer.

To be fair, the mechanics are fun on paper and in practice. I like renting Pokémon, I like running around a giant pyramid trying to find a way out, I like every facility. But for whatever reason, they decided to go by streaks, with no continues and a difficult curve that basically decides to make you lose if it feels. And that's a swift kick in the dick every time you lose.

I also wouldn't mind if vitamin items didn't have an arbitrary cap at 100 EVs or BP in Emerald could be worth something, but it's really not helping. I suppose I could have bought 250 Proteins and sold them all for 1255000, but I went for the Charizard plush instead. I don't want to give up, but I should probably move on with my life.

anon, battle frontier is literally rigged. don't remember if it was gen 3 or gen 4 but i once was playing on emulator and made a savestate right before the turn some nigger used sheer cold against me. no matter how many times i restarted it'd always hit and ohko my pokemon. it's fucking rigged and i don't fucking understand how anyone could like it.
