Its debatable if its better or not. Gligar only has 10 less hp, 20 less atk and 10 less speed then Gliscor, however eviolite Gligar is a massive defensive wall that few can dream of. Debatlable if Gligar is better though, Gliscor gets poison heal, but roost still is a thing.

good point, having to set up swords dance to fight back is a pain, tho

thinking of raising a doublade, since I don't like aegislash as a design, nor how it fights, does it hold up on it's own in competitive?

Not as good since confusion was nerfed but used to win me a lot of showdown games in gen 6 even in OU. If you want to switch out confuse ray for something else now that confusion blows you can do that. Infestation and disable are good options.

I haven't used it in gen 7 so I can't say, but in gen 6 it was really fun on my gimmick team. I even ran a prankster meowstic with double screens, light clay, and safeguard. Dusclops was unkillable. Once safeguard ran out and he could be poisoned I'd just switch him out. It surprisingly worked.

I also ran a Grumpig with:

Substitute
Teeter dance
Thunder wave
Extrasensory

That set is completely useless now thanks to parafusion nerf but sitting there while my opponent can't fight through was always so much fun. I stalled out a Klefki and eviolite Chansey with that set. Took 60 turns but I won.

Also, now that I think about it, you could probably run a super gimmicky set with eviolite Dusclops. Something like:

Infestation
Will o Wisp
Curse
Pain Split.

Trap, burn, and curse a physical attacker. Pain split later to get your health back and do it again. I'll have to try that one out later.

Doublade can do some things ingame and competitive where it is UU. I'd say the only truly good eviolite mons are Doublade, Chansey, and P2. Gligar is good but still a worse Gliscor. Rhydon and Golbat have some underrated niche uses. Roselia and Scyther round out the bottom rung.

Bulky Murkrow.
Bold (252 HP, 252 Def) or Calm (252 HP, 252 Sp.Def)

- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Foul Play
- Haze/Taunt

It's not as good as it was in Gen V since the Prankster and Thunder wave nerfs, but it's fun to use.
Its role is to stop or cripple setup sweepers.
Haze is reliable but Taunt is all around more useful.
You can also swap Thunder Wave for Toxic if you don't need speed control.

only problem I got with doublade is it's special ability. I can't think of any good moves with less than 100 accuracy off the top of my head, so it's ability hurts it more than it helps, but it can make for a devastating physical tank

marvel scale boosts defense by 50% while sleeping
eviolite boosts both defenses by 50%
251 defense before item/ability boosts at level 100 with 252+beneficial nature
after boosts, over 560 effective defense assuming you fully invest.
deoxys defense has 460 at full invest.

step 1: remove fairies
step 2: sweep

The thing about Scyther is, it has the same BST as Scizor. The numbers are just moved around. Scyther has 70/80/80 defenses, while Scizor has 70/100/80. Thing is, with Eviolite, Scyther goes to 70/120/120, and coupled with Roost, it's actually pretty bulky. Yeah, sure, Scizor has a better defensive typing and 20 more attack, but maybe you've already got your mega slot filled or too many steel types or whatever. 110 Attack is nothing to sneeze at, especially with Technician and Swords Dance. SD/Roost/Aerial Ace/Bug Bite works surprisingly well. I wouldn't say Scyther is better, per se, but it's not as shit as you might think.

Has anybody tried analytic Doublade before? Beheeyem can learn skill swap, and has it, with doublade's low speed, this actually sounds pretty good, if I can get it set up

I used that one quite a bit too. It was really solid in the right situation. One of those mons that either does nothing in a battle or completely shuts down a team depending on what the other person is running. Big fan of Murkrow overall.

Thunder wave has reduced accuracy and paralysis doesn't cut speed by as much anymore. I think they also lowered the chance of not moving due to paralysis but I'm not sure on that one.

Dark types are immune to status moves used by prankster mons now.

swadloon has a minimal chance of getting webs up more than once but is also easier to taunt. Shelmet is funny because it has recover and spikes/tspikes but the only attack it can probably manage is infestation and you hardly have room for that with spikes/recover/toxic/encore etc

You should use DDance DragonTail instead.
If Sleep Talk calls Dragon Tail, you can smack the opponent out before they even get the chance to move after a few dragon dances.
