the Gengar thing is understandable because they totally just slapped Poison type on "bad guy" Pokemon before Dark was a thing. The Gastly and Zubat families might as well not be Poison types and practically nothing about them thematically would change

In gen 1 I thought the special stat determined how strong status moves like leer were. I remember catching Zapdos in a master ball and thinking it was garbage because special was it's highest stat.

Used to think that the Pokerus was a bad thing despite it overtly telling you that it isn't because of me being an impatiant retard and only reading that my Pokemon got a virus. I ended up reseting my file because of it. It was only right at the start of the game so I didn't lose much progress but it was so lucky and I was too stupid to take advantage of it.

It wasn't 2x on Ghost, just unaffected by it. But there was only 1 Ghost move anyway (Lick) so it didn't really matter.

I mean, not really. It's pretty easy to get, wonder trade for a while or just ask someone in /wfg/ and they can probably throw you a shitmon with contagious Pokerus. Just remember to keep a contagious mon in the PC so you can keep passing it on.

I believed Normal types didn't get STAB because they were, well, too normal. Also, my friend told me Gen 1 games could brick if you saved after you beat the Elite Four, so I tried to go back there as rarely as possible.

As did I. The fact that Psyduck learned Confusion so early on fucked with my mind. Gen one also had Starmie and Slowbro with Water/Psychic typing, so it checked out. Golduck even looks more Psychic than either of them.

Nothing much from me. I used to own a Sinnoh strategy guide book when I was little. I studied that thing religiously. I even had the level-up movesets memorized for each pokemon. As far as "playground rumors" go, I remember some kid trying to convince me that you could get a Venustoise by breeding a Venusaur and Blastoise together. I told him he was full of shit, and he got pissed at me.

I once got pokerus as a kid and had no idea what it was, because I always mashed A at Poke-centres, so I thought the "PKRS" symbol meant "Pokemon Partners", as though you were really good friends with that particular Pokemon or something.

As a kid I thought electric was resistant to water. I also thought tapping the A button during a capture increased the chance of success. I still have the urge to do it whenever I play the games, but its strongest during gen 2 games.

Nowadays I mostly just play nuzlocke and when a pokemon gets smashed with a risky move i hold on to the dpad tightly as if I'm helping the pokemon brace the hit.

By the time Gen 3 rolled around it started to pale in comparison to newly introduced Dragons like Flygon, Salamance, and Altaria.
