Pokémon's a turn-based RPG series, it's always going to be one, because that's just what the series is. BotW changed Zelda in a lot of ways, but it didn't change its genre, and Zelda is still Zelda. It introduced and removed a lot of aspects people associate with Zelda, but it's still an Action Adventure game where you run around with a sword and engage in live combat.
Autists always try to assert that, to shake up the Pokémon series, it needs to turn into some open-world survival bullshit, or some kind of live-battle thing. That isn't main-series Pokémon. BotW turned into that because it blended with Zelda's base gameplay well. There are other series with those aspects that you can play and enjoy, Pokémon doesn't need to become something that it isn't, Pokémon needs to become a BETTER turn-based RPG series. Changing shit around arbitrarily instead of continuously building on its own foundation is what dug 3D Sonic's grave.
