Making games make even basic sense is hard. Silver would of beat him and numerous other champs as well if the grunt tried that.

I went back and fourth to the nearest healer/Pokemon Centre when needed. You can leave and come back, the ones who are defeated will stay defeated, bt will stay where they were or where programming dictates.

I think that is how I got Frogadier to evolve to Greninja along with other team members.

Pokemon games have a real issue in that you can never really acknowledge the implied threat you could pose to other people in the game walking around with up to 6 trained fighting machines.

The problem is not that you can't take the quick way, the problem is you can't take the quick way for a super flimsy excuse that sort of undermines the conflict resolution method of the series.

Gen V touched on it, but really it's just too nice and friendly of a setting to have Pokemon be that much of a terrible threat to human life. It wouldn't be a kid setting out on an adventure if you treated your Wartortle like a gun.

It was to add gameplay, but if your autism demands a reasonable explanation, even if you have Pokemon and you beat someone in a battle it would still be morally wrong/probably illegal to use your Pokemon to harm another person, whether they’re evil or not

Right, but in a game where Pokemon battles generally mean you get what you want or overcome the person's will, beating a person in a Pokemon battle just for them to sit there blocking a single tile saying "nuh uh" just makes you feel frustrated and unable to actually do what the game promises. There was a dozen other ways the game could have blocked the quick way until you finished the other path, I'd even prefer the arbitrary dancers because at least that was a decent gag and didn't pretend you could affect the outcome beforehand.

It's disappointing that XY didn't capitalize on puzzles, I feel like some of the areas of the game really lend themselves to puzzles if some thought was put into it;
- Santalune Forest (involving Tree Hollows)
- Route 4 (being more of a Hedge Maze)
- Route 5 (introducing the player to Rollerskate Puzzles)
- Glittering Cave (labyrinth with some sort of hint system with the rocks)
- Route 10 (Invisible barriers ala Koga's Gym)
- Reflection Cave (Light and/or Mirror Puzzles)
- Tower of Mastery (A Riddle/Strength Puzzle)
- Kalos Power Plant (Electric Current Puzzle)
- Route 14 (Giant mobile Lilypads)
- Pokeball Factory (Conveyor Belts)
- Frost Cavern (ok this one did have an Ice Puzzle but it was the worst one in the series to date)
- Route 20 (It's a lost woods design but it's kinda basic for late game puzzles)
