When people found out that it was arguably the least viable of the bunch, people who preferred the other two starters had all the ammo they needed to go full shitposter-mode.
Then someone on /vp/ started passing around a "archer = school shooter numale" meme and it caught on.
Also some people around here can't spot falseflagging when they see it, but this applies to Incineroar too. All Gen 7 starters have a bad rep around here.
Admittedly, Decidueye's wings look really bad, but nothing else about it really screams "awful".
