that's how water works, it should have been implemented years ago to add depth. Isn't there some move that spreads water everywhere but just reduces the effectiveness of fire type moves? What was the fuckin point of that

They do, actually. By making them Water-type.

In the anime, rather than a type change, this is translated as "Pokemon is wet, so it's more conductive of electricity"

You can argue all day about Pikachu using soak or a pokémon being able to use a move by take advantage of the terrain, but the move itself is legit.

This was literally the plot of the 9th episode of the first season, that the games are just fake simulations and the anime is "real life".

Yeah they're Doubles-oriented. If they extended the effect to 10 turns maybe it would be more useful in Singles. And/or maybe if they increased the power of Water and Ground moves? Water Sport is just a poor man's Rain Dance.

Another thought: maybe moves/abilities that interact with this move? Like Mud moves gaining 100% accuracy under Mud Sport?
