Kabotops is quite the Pokemon. I know why they used it in Origins as Red's Indigo Plateau Team.

I used it in LGE it did really well. (The only time I did not use all three starters) I think it needs a Modern Form that removes Water for another typing.

Looks like shit. Starts as a cute lil horseshoe crab with eyes on top, and little gleaming red eyes underneath. Then it just turns into Scyther's awkward cousin with lazy triangle eyes, getting rid of the better color scheme for a boring brown only.

I like both but Kabutops has been my favorite since the series started.
I like how it looks oddly different based on what angle you look at it from. From above it looks like a trilobite. Kabuto's basically a horseshoe crab without a tail, and the ominous red eyes underneath are great.

In Gen 1? Kabutops has higher Attack and Omastar has higher Special. Before the Physical/Special split, Rock was Physical and Water was Special and Kabutops didn't even learn any Rock attacks. Meanwhile Omastar could learn Surf and Ice Beam. Kabutops is cool, but he was fucking awful.

Omastar is rad as fuck
>First playthrough young me gets the choice between dome fossil (sounds boring) or a helix fossil (I know a helix is a spiral but that's about it), go with helix fossil
>first form is a pretty cool squid guy, squids are cool
>second form is fucking rad to 10 year old me, animalistic eyes, gaping spike maw, tentacles for days, spikes along the shell
>kabuto is cool but kabutops just looks impractical and awkward
>knife hands is a pretty dumb design and only worked well for scyther

Even Gen 3 doesn't get much better for him, since he still doen't even get ancientpower until 65, so unless you held onto Rock Tomb from Brock until Cinnabar it's still screwed for an in-game playthrough
