I realized with SM, by the third island I realized I wasn't having fun anymore and quit. Friends recommended me to play older games or romhacks but I just wasn't feeling it. It was all the same, always the same formula. I've been playing lots of other games and come here for the shitposting and occasionally interesting thread. I really do hope Gen8 reignites my passion.

I'm not burnt out at all, I just know GF can do better. I'll probably enjoy Sword and Shield, but I know they won't be as great as my favorite games in the franchise (the games on the DS, from Platinum to BW2)

I took a break by not getting USUM and LGPE. I'm cautious about Gen 8, but I admit I lean on the optimistic side. If nothing else, the speculation and pre-release periods for up coming Pokemon games have always been fun.

I don't remember making this post. Ultra-skipping camp Hawaii 2 was the best decision I made. I'm cautiously hopeful for gen8. If it turns out to be just as bland and hand-holdy, then I'm probably just gonna drop it all entirely..

I didn't play gens 3-6. If the series isn't scratching an itch anymore, leave it be for a decade or two. It'll still be here whenever you get excited about it again.

This. I couldn't imagine only playing this series, you have to be a really boring person if Pokemon is all you play. There are plenty of other games I'm looking forward to over Sword and Shield.

I gave Yo-Kai Watch a try recently and it's really fun.

When I did play I was attempting a loving Dex and my friend helped me get manaphy and jirachi without events. When I downloaded crystal recently I realized I had given all my Pokemon games away because I thought I was done. Heart attack.

Luckily tracked my friend down and getting my games back. I'm just happy to take my time and enjoy the game instead of making it some sort of autistic perfect numbers and team game while trying to catch them all. Just enjoyed playing with pokes I like and having fun.

That being said I think a lot of faggots on here have a point about how hollow the games feel in comparison and low variety in the beginning of ORAS and how bad LGPE actually is. I thought they were just raging but I can understand how people love the games for what they used to be and how it's shallow now. Hoping for a return to form and looking forward to SSh, but we will see.

I'm constantly playing a Pokemon game of some sort, but it's not the only games I play.
Just because the newest games aren't as good doesn't mean you have to abandon the series imo

"Burnt out" isn't the word. Gamefreak just caters to a more modern design philosophy now and it's resulted in boring-ass movie games that handhold the player and make everything braindead easy for them. Granted the older games were never exactly hard, but at least they required actual neuron activity to win. But the worst part is that literal retards will lap up everything this company does and perpetually justify their complete lack of effort, so if you're in the minority of people who disagrees with the series' current direction, you might as well either play the older games forever, stick to fan games and difficulty hacks, or just drop out of the fanbase.

At least I don't have to pay a cent to enjoy the new monster designs, though. Maybe this time around they'll even make more than ten good ones.
