It's interesting how pokemon rarely lifts a yokai directly, but mashes it up with something else. You would almost never guess that Dusclops is a chochin-obake because they crossed it with basically a mummy. I thought a kasa-obake pokemon should possibly also be a mushroom monster, or even one of those deep-sea squid with the webbed tentacles.

almost everything was a mishmash in the first gens. Even the non-obake ones were combined with a ton of things.
