I've always hated Blastoise, Squirtle and Wartortle were cool, but Blastoise seems like a fucked up relic from a time where they weren't sure what the series even was. He looks like a retarded Digimon rather than a Pokemon. Even as a kid I thought the cannons were fucking stupid and nonsensical. He's genuinely one of the bottom three Pokemon designs even now.

that was the main concept of the rival getting Squirtle when you pick Charmander but Gamefreak fucked it up when they made Charizard having much better stats and several ways to deal with Blastoise.

Not only that, it's the only one of all 9 stages to not have that } mouth shape. The rest of all them all feel kinda related thanks to that shared feature and it gives them a fun sense of friendship/rivalry but then Blastoise just throws it out the window.

Same here, anon. I’ve always thought it would’ve benefited from GF having removed the stupid cannons, kept the outlets and redesigned the shell to have them protruding over the shoulders or just have one behind its neck.

I prefer Charizard, but I've always respected Blastoise. It's just once Gen 1/2 ended, and people became more aware of game mechanics, Blast fell off the radar. The Mega tried, but didn't quite do the job. But it really just needs one particular move....

Man you smogoniggers are really full of yourselves, pokemon mechanics are understandable by 12 year olds, anyways Blastoise was higher tiered than Charizard until megas came along.

Nope, Blast was the worst starter until SR came... then after Megas it went back to being the worst.

Comp battling was rather niche till Gen 3 when the internet became more prevalent.
