>>38145891It is a good game. It's still massive wasted potential, but those are two different subjects. In a vacuum, the game is fine. If you're able to enjoy games from gen 1 and 2 but claim Let's Go is shit than you're just too biased because you know as well as I as I do that the games could be much, much better if GameFreak cared.
Doesn't change the fact that, in a vacuum, the games are still fine. Held items don't matter unless you're playing online vs other humans, this is mostly true for every Pokemon, even the "harder" one's, since you don't even get useful held items until the end game anyways.
Abilities are not automatically a net positive, they make the game different, not strictly better. Abilities can literally make certain Pokemon absolutely useless or completely broken. I'd argue it's more balanced to not have them, and I'm able to appreciate a playthrough either with or without them. It was fun in gen 1-2, why wouldn't it be fun now? Not to mention Pokemon in the overworld, which is so much better it isn't even funny. And, as of right now it is the best looking Pokemon game besides Pokken.
