Let's have a thread to appreciate the creepier elements to Pokemon

While not the creepiest place in any of the games, The Sealed Chamber really gave me a feeling that I wasn't supposed to find this place, and seeing the braille script everywhere made me dig up my encyclopedia in order to translate the text. It felt like I was on a real investigation into something that was meant to stay hidden

And damn, that music made it all the more ominous

Yeah, ruins of alph gave me the same feeling OP was saying.
Weird runes all over, puzzles to get deeper and to unlock more of the weird floating eyeballs all around the place, and just no explanation for any of it. Not to mention the radio in there.
It's honestly one of my favorite places in all of Pokemon. I spent so much type at night just imagining what the Ruins of Alph even were, what the unown were, etc.

I remember when you first visit the ruins, there are people in them, just walking around, observing the old relics and everything. Then you solve the puzzle, and everyone is gone. I felt like I really fucked up, because i didnt know if everyone fled when the Unown started to appear, or if something terrible had happened to them

I am confused with this one because it also says that it's mother gives it the piece of wood it hangs onto... but how is that possible if their movements are only dreams...
Or for that matter... mating and laying an egg in an endless slumber, how can an entity obtain sexual knowledge or any knowledge on anything without knowing what it is because it never is awake... or eating... how does it know to eat, shit, etc while sleep. Is comatose alive or dead? Are they in a matrix like state where what they do in their dream they do in real life. This pokemon is EVIL

The soundtrack just sounds like you don't belong there, you shouldn't have found this place and then hearing the Unown noises in the background, this really makes Arceus more unsettling yet powerful.

It would've been a cool concept if it had an ability that made it permanently asleep, and could only attack through sleep talk, but had massive stats(like slaking) to compensate.

I'm never certain what the games are going for when they include creepy, forgotten areas. There's a part of me that wishes that Pokémon had more consistent and/or well-written lore and tone. I'm thinking a Pokémon game with the writing from Mother. An entire game could be built around the relationship between Arceus, the Unown, the Time/Space/Antimatter trio, just for example, and then a lot of these things could be explored a lot better than just as weird areas to find legendary or gimmick Pokémon.
