I actually really liked all of the sidequest trainers from D/P/Pl. It's a shame that gayfreak never replicated the idea in subsequent regions

There should be a dozen of "special" trainers like that with mini side quest that you'd meet during your journey.
And then, instead of a boring ass E4, the league would be a PWT style tournament in a big stadium in which you'd fight them.

It really is a shame that franchises can be profitable to the end of time because of sheer brand recognition alone.
They'll never stop making Star Wars and Marvel movies either despite the fact that those haven't been good since fucking decades.

Nah doing it twice would give the wrong idea to the audience, the players would then request cameos of trainers from later games as well, it’s a slippery slope. Just as we got into this mess of remakes for each game even though it isnt necessary for DPP.

They should get rid of the save the world stories these games usually have and just have your trainer explore the region and come across these special types of trainers that have their own small unique stories.

They're optional too so you wont be stopped from your quest of fighting the league.
