I'm not pissed because the mc is black. I'm pissed at the lack of inclusiveness of japanese and Asian actors in this adaptation of a Japanese IP. It feels like forced black representation over inclusion of all races and backgrounds. I'd be fine if the mc was black if it was like that in game but it's not.
They could've put a Japanese American actor to fit this role, Asian Americans seldom play leads in western films, pokemon being a Japanese IP would be better fit.
Instead they get a non japanese to do it.
I'd even get if they didnt have a Japanese American, that's cool, but why not opt for a white American since your country is flooded with them.
The dialouge and comedy feels like a shitty marvel flick to boot and the pokemon designs are abysmal.
