mantine and remoraid are the best pokemon designs. They employ a fantasy theme while at the same time looking like real animals

Such a shame how underappreciated Mantine is compared to his counterpart skarmory.

Wouldn't say the BEST designs but probably in the top 10%.

They were counterparts in G/S. Mantine is meant to be a special wall while Skarmory was the physical one. That and version exclusivity. That's since been thrown out the window since Mantine got a prevo and a stat boost.
