When does this game get interesting? I just got to Cinnabar and holy shit this has been a snoozefest all along. Repetitive pokémons, routes that drag for way too long, the entirety of Silph co. No wonder Kanto is a meme. Is this even remotely enjoyable without nostalgia?

Never does. The islands later on get kind of comfy but its a comfy thats only comfy first time around. Just undertrain your shit pokemon and beat the E4 so you can get to the fairly ok parts with the islands where you can find gen 2 mons.

Kanto is a very boring region and though this game is the best version of it, its still kinda dull. Still, I loved it as a kid and it was my first pokemon game. Though Emerald is still the best gen 3 game.

3 - 6 can be done in any order actually. You don't need Fly so you don't need to do Vermilion before heading out to Rock Tunnel zoomer retard.

And yes, that does make it better. Is it the be all end all? No, but it is better than the recent games by far for it save Trash Go.

But it doesn't improve the game at all. It actually hinders it because if you e.g. beat Koga before Sabrina you'll be overleved and completely stomp her, or vice versa. Trivializing a chunk of the game is not good.

As someone who's favorite gen is 5, FRLG are probably the best paced games in the series. We just need a real update with abilities, phys/special split, and new Pokemon available and cross gen evos.

Objectively? It's a joke. Nostalgia goggles ain't pulling the roses over on this one, kanto is a pretty terrible region, it's boring, requires a lot of back-tracking, and is a grindfest.

I did like the additions of the Sevii Islands though, but then again they also removed all the added mechanics like breeding, trading with other regions (i.e. Hoenn) and even post gen 1 evos (like Crobat) until you did some stupid postgame mission. So, yeah.

Could be worse though. It could be LGPE

Yeah I can agree on this. It's fast, has just the right level of linearity and everything is just straight forward. Which we had a Kanto remake with DS graphics like HGSS

Kanto and Johto should always be paired together in games. Both are lacking.

We really just needed a Hoenn remake in that style. I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been a hack of some kind that hasn't stitched HGSS, Platinum, and BW/BW2 together into one obnoxious clusterfuck of a supergame.
