Ribombee and Vikavolt are very good bugs. Vika unfortunately takes forever to level since you need to be in a specific area to trigger it, but its good if you can hold out. Goliscopod is also good but Wimpod is a bitch to level. Never used Araquanid.

sun and moon was a total train wreck, and if it wasn't for pokemon GO making pokemon temporarily mainstream again, this could have been the death-knell for the franchise. talk about going out with a whimper

Because it stops your pokemon getting too strong. After a certain point, all it does it make grinding even more painful.
How would it NOT affect a normal, or even an abnormal, playthrough? Do you not level up your pokemon when you play?

It's weird. I always hated the school-city part at the start of the game because it stops you every 5 steps, but now I'm truly feeling the burn.

It's not really about being over levelled, but rather how fast can you get to the levels you want your guys to be at before the elite 4 + champion?
It's the time aspect. The gen 5/7 exp gain system slows this shit down, despite there already being a system that makes levelling up slower over time. This means that there are two systems working together to make it harder and harder to level up the more you play. If every time you level up, you need exponentially more points to level up again than you did before, but you also are earning less and less with every level, doesn't that seem like overkill? like a waste of time?

I just beat BW while playing on set and not using items in battle, and I never had to grind wild pokemon ever even though I used a full team of 6. You're a moron.

And if I DID ever decide I wanted to grind, the Audino gave a fuck ton of xp even if you're a higher level so it's not slow at all.

Your argument against sun/moon being an unnecessarly slow game, is that you beat a different game without trying too hard (didn't say how long it took)

What level do you really need your team to be at for Elite 4 and Champion though? Unless you really want to stomp them with overleveled beasts, the problem shouldn't be bad.

I'd say that, considering kukui's pokemon are just bellow level 60, your pokemon should be around there or a lil' higher. Getting to level 60 is much slower than it needs to be. Imagine the same game, but with the old exp gains. It's not easier, but faster.

in what world is it a good system, even if it still possible to beat the game. catching up in levels is made easy, but getting ahead becomes hair pulling.
