>>38164842I'd say anything that rolls off the tongue without bogging the name down with unnecessary hard consonants mid-word, it's by no mean a dealbreaker, but talonflame and sandslash are definitely on my radar for top 10 shit pokemon names. For prosperity I'll give you a few examples from each gen that we have the full dex from.
Gen 1-Meowth, vulpix, squirtle, bulbasaur (if you pronounce it bulb-bizarre in one fluid motion that is), and arcanine is a good example of consonants that dont come off as hard.
Gen 2- Ampharos, bellossom, forretress, octillery, and tyranitar
Gen 3- swellow, masquerain, vigoroth, exploud, slaking, and vibrava
Gen 4- rampardos, vespiquen, and glameow
Gen 5- serperior, herdier, blitzle, basculin, dwebble, and escavailier
Gen 6- chesnaught, frogadier, pyroar, furfrou, malamar (kind of wish that it was malamari but what can you do?), aurorus and tyrantrum
Gen 7- litten, rowlet, wishiwashi, passimian, salazzle (hate the mon, love the name. It's so fun to say), xurkitree and poipole
Not a comprehensive list mind you, just a fan of portmanteaus that flow well, like tyrant and tantrum just mesh together well, while double and blade don't. I already know this is pretty autistic, but it's something that I feel makes or breaks a mon just as much as design
