I got another Zekrom years ago.
BlackDEATH was there on my original Black savefile. I still keep him around because he is retarded.

My big problem is not being able to change the names of Pokemon that you must trade in order to evolve.

However, I wouldn't mind if they let us nickname Pokemon that don't have nicknames. I have a shiny Pheromosa that doesn't have a name and it bothers me. All shinies should be nicknamed.

It doesn't make any fucking sense in-universe either. And I mean, it's not like people don't rename other people's former pets all the time. Or alternatively giving a name to ones that never had a name to begin with, you can't give nicknames to a pokemon that's just "Zigzagoon" either for whatever reason.

You can't trade Pokemon with profanity in their names though. I'm 90% sure that you couldn't trade an un-nicknamed Co(fag)rigus in Black and White due to the filter.

this isn't related to not being able to change the nickname of traded Pokemon, but

something in Let's Go that I don't think enough people talk about is the fact that the Name Rater isn't present

Instead you can just change the nickname of your Pokemon whenever you want, like in Pokemon Go, and I feel like this is gonna be another one of those good changes that just isn't gonna carry over

I was sure you could rename them, i was trying to get a shinny feebas by breeding, so i was giving away feebas with dragon breath, iron tail, hypnosis and mud sports, i didn't knew shit, so i named them "fish1", i gave away fish137 when i finally learned you couldn't change the fucking name. So at least 137 people learned how retarded i was.

I think this would be best. Thry obviously have a flag that tells the game whether or not the Pokémon is renamed on evolution, so all they have to do is make renaming possible across the board as long as that flag is set to true. If that flag is set to false then it already has a nickname and you would have to be the original trainer to change it. Giving a nickname to a previously unnicknamed outsider Pokémon would set another flag to allow you to change the name again in the future to prevent you from getting fucked should you need to change the name at all.

So basically you could change the name if either you were the original trainer of that Poke, the Poke had no nickname to begin with or you had given it a nickname in the first place.
