After you've seen it and gotten that little fleeting dopamine release, it's done, and you're stuck seeing it for the same boring mediocre shit it is. I'd gladly trade that experience for a world that feels alive that I can spend hours observing, exploring and actually interacting with, rather than just speeding through corridors of boring dirt and grass dotted with stationary mannequins.
That's provided you even get that kind of surprise in the first place, it's very hard to go into a game nowadays without knowing pretty much everything you're going to encounter thanks to leaks, datamines, official releases and general hype train bullshit. And rather than try to cut myself off from any news of the game just to squeeze out what little I can get from it, I'd rather the games actually be, you know, fun on their own.
