Normal is just useless. I don't understand why it can't have any SE against other types but have types that resist it. At the very least, just make it like ghost and dragon and have it SE against other normals.

Defensively it's a toss up between Ice (most weaknesses), Rock (extremely common weaknesses), and Psychic (weak to the ubiquitous knock off, sucker punch, pursuit, and u-turn).

Offensively it's a toss up between Bug (many resistances), Grass (many resistances), or Steel (few notable advantages).

In regards to the Pokemon of those types, it's either Ice or Rock, both of which suffer from poor offensive spreads despite being awful defensive types.

In regards to an overall perspective, probably Psychic. Doesn't hit much super effectively, is resisted by some of the most common types in the game (dark and especially steel), has few notable resistances, is weak to some of the most common and most dangerous moves in the game, and is basically entirely outclassed by Fairy type.

fire is my least favorite of the "elemental" types, it just feels like there's much less room for creativity. (pic my favorite fire types, so my taste is more obvious) fighting and dragon just largely don't match my aesthetic

I didn't include Rotom Wash because it was a form change and completely forgot Pyukumuku existed. Technically it can learn Hail, but that's not a damaging move so I guess it does invalidate my claim. That's still every water pokemon barring fucking FOUR (ONE if you don't include Wash and Muku.)

Dark does Ghost's job infinitely better.

Ghost takes neutral damage from Psychic and double damage from Ghost, the two types it's supposed to counter.

Dark is immune to one and resists the other.

Dark has several utility moves like Knock Off, Thief, etc. Ghost has almost none.

Almost every pokemon in the game with fucking teeth gets Bite/Crunch. Ghost is usually reserved for Ghosts and Psychics.

Yeah I don’t get it. There is literally only either a neutral or a negative aspect to using a normal type. Yeah, they learn a variety of different types of moves, but you don’t benefit from STAB with that.

There are plenty of strong normal types but imagine how much better they would be if they were super effective against any type at all

Electric is actually below average offensively. Only strong against 2 types, while 3 types resist it and 1 is outright immune to it.

Electric's biggest draw is only being weak to Ground. Should be under best defensive, really

Also, Fire bad defensively? It has 6 resistances and all 3 of its weaknesses are covered by Grass. Fuck outta here with that.
