Because waifu-ism and Lillie's story being changed so she can stay in Alola and also be a waifu instead of having a meaningful character development.

She was kind of the deepest and coolest villain they had until the change. I feel like it was because kids might have found her story and its open ending too sad or some shit.

The sequels should have been actual SEQUELS, not remakes. They should have been like Black and White 2 and just picked up later if they wanted Lusamine to be so redeemable now.
