HG/SS are the worst games in the series. Gen II was the worst generation but everyone gives it a free pass because of, unironically, "Kanto!". Johto was half a region to begin with, and Kanto was truncated to the point that it was 1/4 of a real region. No content in Gen II, no postgame, nothing. An absolute mess with godawful new Pokemon.

Not by the time GS came out, it wasn't. You don't get to hold that against Johto when the only reason you can say so is because newer regions set a higher standard for the size of the game world.

Got rid of gyms and the evil team trying to capture box legendary for their own goals plot (Lusamine doesn't give a shit about the legendaries and Necrozma itself is the villain in USUM)

Mons like Lucario and Garchomp didn't need them, but previous bottom-tier mons like Mawile, Pidgeot and Beedrill are actually usable now. Megas did more good than bad.

Power creep has been a problem for a few generations now, Gen VII is only one factor.

This is the biggest failing of Gen VI. If Pokemon Z had come out, fixed some of the rushed story and added good post-game like Gen IV and V, it'd be the best game in the series.

I don't understand why Kalos gets shit on so much? Kalos is unique and comfy as fuck, and the only resemblance to Kanto is a single forest with Viridian Forest's layout.

Are you just making shit up now? Gen VI introduced the LEAST amount of legendaries aside from Gen I and II. Gens IV, V and especially VII are the one with like 20 legendaries.

Anyway, back in the time, XY was very fun with PSS and the "easiest way ever" to battle and trade pokémon, Friend Safari and everything. I enjoyed that couple months. OrAs, in other hand, has nothing new to surprise, was even easier, cut Battle Frontier and Character Customization. It was fucking boring.

Gen 5 sprites were just fine even if the effort was slightly wasted. I at least they didnt use washed out colors or make everything look ugly in 3d

Ultra beast aren't legendaries. Also this is mostly about ORAS and their poor attempt to force all too many legendaries in one game with "mirage spots"
