Most of the criticism of gen 7 is legitimate, if overblown.
But I don't really understand why /vp/ hates gen 6. I don't remember all this negativity being around when the games were new.
Is it just the bitter autists who don't play other games?

Oh no. OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Believe me everyone shit themselves when gen 6 first became a thing. No one was happy about the small pokedex, no one was happy about the story, no one was happy about the rivals, no one was happy about mega evolution, everyone hated almost everything. Not to mention this was really where people started going off the rails with KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(cont.)

It's definitely blown over by now, but when gen 6 first dropped, the internet as a whole went fucking nuclear.

I've liked X/Y since they came out. Looking back I can see the flaws, but they got so much more right than people are willing to admit. Finally bringing the series to 3D, nice and comfy France-based region, Megas were mostly great aside from a couple overpowered ones, 450 Pokemon in a single Pokedex, character customization (that's actually better than Gen VII's.), Super Training, the PSS.

Yeah, the post-game was lacking and some of the characters sucked. But X/Y did so much good, they don't deserve half the hate they get.

Pokémon XY are the first 3D games have rich cultural story in artistic styles-animations that have evolved the concepts, characters, gameplay ways, pokémon and many things that can be beneficial for all games. Just as these were with RBGY, its FRLG remakes to the other 2D games.
It is not over the 3D era going to continue in the games, very remembered XY

When gen 5 was new, there was some genwunning about 3/4's designs but nobody denied that each generation clearly improved on the last mechanically, because they hadn't started cutting features yet.

This is exactly why there was massive butthurt when X/Y released. They were "first entries" games like D/P and R/S when people were expecting another Platinum/Emerald for some reasons.

The problem is they never released a third version to fix the issues of the initial ones, therefore they remain eternally flawed and forever the worst Gen. The shitty RS remakes didn't help.
