>>38204765Judging strictly on age gap is narrow-minded and not seeing the whole picture. Mental maturity is a much better metric. The teen years are when most people will mature mentally very rapidly over that time. Someone who is very early into that process or hasn't started (12-14) will still be very juvenile, so a relationship with someone who is towards the end of that time who is much more matured (3-4+ years age gap from the 12-15) should set off red flags that the younger party is being manipulated.
18-59 is pretty fucked because an 18 year old still has a good ways to go for mentally maturing, but say 25-59 gap isn't really that fucked. It's strange for sure, but most people at that point will trust that the 25 year old knows what they're doing, and will only object on the basis that in a long term relationship their partner will die far before them rather than on the basis that they're being taken advantage of and that the relationship is dangerous.
