Masuda's right though, they handled the pre-release of Sun and Moon poorly. Too much was revealed, so we barely had any new content to be surprised about. We knew about 85% of the game's content before it was released.

the pokemon company is just really amateurish. they run a huge franchise but don't really have the capacity to pull it off. it's like a kid getting elected mayor. being a pokemon fan really is suffering. i follow a number of other games/franchises and those companies are constantly engaging with their audience and releasing new products. the pokemon company spends 7 years making a new game and it's always underwhelming. they need to drastically expand their workforce.

I can't believe you're actually saying this. To this day the marketing of mainline games has been ridiculously successful. Not to mention the games being released almost yearly, which might actually be for the worse.
As a pokemon fan you're fed information about at least some product continuously through the year, there is a reason why a lot of people play Pokemon and nothing else; because the franchise is able to keep you hooked constantly.
