1: It’s base design is a bit bland and generic for my tastes. I was hoping for a better hedgehog pokemon than one based on a pun (hedge hog).
2: It’s alt form design looks like some crappy mary sue character that has no good focus on what it’s trying to be and looks like it just wanted to be a special snowflake, muddying all it’s themes into a mess.
3: Said design is so unfocused the animal it’s meant to be (a hedgehog) turns into some sort of sonichu-dog-deer-looking…thing. With a scarf. That’s there for no reason. It’s not even a flower or a leaf.
4: It’s absolutely broken and obnoxious to fight against, since serene grace and it’s move pool combine into a broken mess that has an 80% chance to cut your sp.def in half, a 60% chance to make you lose a turn, and is lightning fast and can heal.
5:The fact that the mon doing the above has the aforementioned terrible mary sue fursona design. I got nothing against tastes but I hate the generic humanoid anime face mons a lot.
6: It was SO broken and unfair to fight against it was banned to Ubers unanimously. Smogon specific, yes, but the fact it was unanimous really says a lot.
7: It’s origin is non-existent. It breaks the theme of Gen 4 (Mythology and Legends) and throws in something that just doesn’t fit. Almost every legend in Gen 4 is based on an ancient Japanese myth or a God of some kind, even Heatran, and even the locations were, like Spear Pillar. Shaymin, in comparison, has no mythological connections. It’s just…flower.
8: It’s a Mary Sue in the actual game event, being this pure and wonderful creature that’s just oh so obnoxiously harmonious please go catch it.
