XY/Z was the pinnacle of the anime. The best animation, the best storytelling, the best music, the best companions, the best battles, the best league, the best everything. SM is "le epic funny faces" and nothing more. It likely won't even have a real league, it'll just be a stupid game of beach volleyball or some shit.
