There was once a time genwunners actively shat on the newer gens. This is where the frustrations came from and the trauma persists to this day. People don't like to see their favourites being dismissed for reasons they don't understand or relate to.

If you're on /vp/ then you aren't a genwunner. A genwunner doesn't mean you like gen 1, it refers to the type of person who played/watched gen 1 as a kid and never continued to invest in the series, until of course GO happened.
