>>38207310It's more the continued slow growth of the series, and not sticking to things. Their embracing of gimicks is now jus tmaking things a mess now with Z stones and mega stones/evolutions, etc. Not the having single gen gimmicks is entirely new, but god damn they just have this idea that new is always better and just rarely finish or improve a fucking things.
>Contests>Ball customization >Following mons>aforementioned megas and z moves>Triple and rotation battlesand probably others I just can't remember. It took 4 gens for a physical special split, and like 6 or 7 to make breeding/training not a complete pain in the ass.
I get they're more concerned with keeping the younger audience intrigued/involved, but it's not like creating and abandoning gimmicks over and over is somehow the best way to do that.
