I mean he looks pretty damn androgynous, and him constantly going on about wanting to be stronger could be seen as him not wanting to be seen as 'the weaker sex'. It also fits into him not being able to give a reason for WHY he wants to be stronger. Of course he's not going to openly admit to the champion that he wants to be seen as strong because he is actually a she.
