>>38223709I thought Chespin was a chipmunk. They aren't Hedgehog in America ???
>>38223715I thought cows were first tamed in fertile crescent, they were worshipped as a symbol of fertility.
>>38223669>Honedge = Excalibur is probably the most famous sword in the world so England ( Scotland on the map - Lack of free space )>>38223991Very interesting. In french it's called Carapagos ( referring to Galapagos islands )
>>38223345 Pelican are spread throughout Asia but they land by Caspian sea coast during winter for some of them, according to Wiki. Actually I have alway thought they were from Africa.>>38223898As for the Tanuki, I feel you guys. Finally, it has the shape of the Tanuki, a Raccoon has cute fumbling hands which are absent here. what disturbs me is that Pokemon is known to take inspiration into Yokai, respecting the legends and lore. Tanuki is famous for being a shapeshifter, with magical ( psychic ? ) powers, but this is not the case with Zigzagoon which is the GEN III cute normal shitmon, and Linoone doesn't seem to display that ability either...
>>38223401So this guy is 100% true. The fact is, Pokemon is a Japanese product, so the monster are designed with a Japanese point of view. Eevee broadly refers to the Tanuki, it's not very accurate ( Colors and Canine/Vulpine aspect, but mostly because of it's changing nature ), but Zigzagoon truly has the shape. Raccoon dog and Raccoon are often mixed up.
The point is, to classify all the species according to the animal they are inspired by is complicated because everyone can interpret each pokemon a different way ( names translation can also be a bias ) and some species just cover the whole earth so the symbolism gets prominent.
I'm wordy ; TY that will help me to ponder on the project if I'm not too a lazy of an ass
