Yes, Mega-Heracross looks ugly for many people, but it doesn't look a Mega and I would prefer it as a new Pokémon, or a crossgen evolution. Same with Mega Mawile (applying the Ambipom's example). But now they will never evolve, unless they made a megastone that make some Megas actual Pokémon, but this will never happens.
This gimmick looks too artificial. We cannot see Megas in overworld, they are just like weapons. Remember when Pokémon stories were "Pokémon are friendsss, not weapons!!"? This is literally the opposite
