>>38236594My main issues with the Gen 7 Roster of New Pokemon is these things;
1) Not enough Two-Stage Evolutions, outside of the Starters, Regional "X"s, Tsareena & Cosmog Line everything either doesn't evolve or only evolves once.
2) Too many Pokemon that don't evolve, I personally don't like using Pokemon that don't evolve, I find Pokemon that do evolve to be more interesting so the fact that in a dex of 80 Pokemon, 31 of them don't evolve is kinda of disappointing.
3) No Relations to previous generations, this is an issue I don't really have with Gen 5 since it introduced such a large and varied Dex but I do have a similar issue with Gen 6 to this, I just don't get why Game Freak doesn't increase the dex sizes by including evolutions and pre-evolutions to old Pokemon. Not only does this help Pokemon that fell out of favour a while ago but also allows them to explore alternate evolutions for Pokemon.
4) Failure to properly expand on past evolution methods, this actually applies for every Generation from Gen 2 onwards, the fact that we just keep getting more and more evolutionary methods without really expanding the number of Pokemon under older methods outside of Level Up and Happiness is kind of frustrating, it leaves a lot of items feeling arbitrary and makes me wish they'd just remove them and change the evolution criteria. That being said as an alternative I would want to see more Pokemon use those methods rather than just creating more unnecessary methods, it was good that we finally got a new Pokemon that evolves in Magnetic Areas and another one that evolves through learning a specific move but for the most part evolution methods particularly those from Gen 2, 4 and 6 continue to be underutilized.
5) Way too many Legendaries, Gen 6 gave us 66 Regular Pokemon, Gen 7 gave us 56 (58 if you count Type: Null & Silvally), I don't really like Legendary Pokemon, I feel the most legendaries (that includes Mythicals or UBs) a Generation should have is 10, not 24
