>>38241992Yeah Kanto didn't handle Ice-Types well either it fucked up just as much as later generations did but in the opposite direction. Also South-East Kanto is just bizarre in terms of layout it doesn't really make any sense and I suspect it was just done the way it was to arbitrarily lengthen the path to Fuchsia City, if would make more sense if in later generations the area took on an appearance that reflected the winding and narrow nature of that route like a canyon or a forest/jungle.
Johto is a noticeably step up and is probably on the more consistent side I think, the main issues I see with it are the location of the Ice Path which I think should've been made to be East of Blackthorn City rather than North placing it in closer proximity to the freezing Mt. Silver. The other one with Johto is Cianwood City which offers little suggestion as to why it exists, I know that these cities are based on real locations in Japan, USA, France, etc. but the lack of any pier or suggestion of a fishing lifestyle at the very least makes it seem like the city shouldn't be able to exist, plus where the hell is the pharmacist getting the materials for the Secret Potion, given the island seems to be very rural in comparison to more urban environments like Olivine & Goldenrod.
Hoenn overall is pretty fine, the desert makes more sense for this region considering the relative location to the mountain form of Mt. Chimney albeit I don't think an actual desert could form in the limited space that Route 111 depicts it'd more likely just be badlands. Aside from that the only other thing is how void of life the underwater seems to be, you'd think there'd be many types of corals and sea creatures roaming about even more so than on the surface, like I'd kinda expect to see schools of Luvdisc, Remoraid (I know it's not in the Hoenn Dex) or Magikarp passing by the screen every couple of seconds, maybe a rarer Gyarados or Sharpedo too.
