For real time you'd be looking at something similar to most Real-Time Role-Playing Games, the attacks could be cycled similarly to spells, you might have it that certain moves (likely the more powerful ones like Hyper Beam and Giga Impact) utilize a Spell-Based system where their PP is converted over into a mana cost (or just retain PP as is). Whereas weaker moves might see their function change to that of a recharge such that moves like Growl would recharge faster than a move like Screech.
Similar to cycling through moves you could have a way to cycle between your Pokemon, there'd be a small pause between when a Pokemon uses an attack and when you can switch.
In terms of movement you're looking at one of two situations;
1) The player's Pokemon moves along near their trainer which would probably work better in the case of wild battles since it'd make the Run Mechanic more tangible.
2) Have it be that when a Pokemon Battle is engaged the player take control of their Pokemon's movement allowing them to directly control the Pokemon, this would certainly favour Trainer Battles where you'd expect to have the trainers remain relatively stationary whilst the Pokemon move about accordingly.
Moves would need to be considered in a 3D Space so either a Targeting System would be required or moves would need to have large hitboxes and appearances to compensate.
I think most other mechanics could easily be translated over though from the main series.
