What happened with legendary Pokemon being locked behind events and needing to do all these crazy requirements to get them?

Why are all "legendaries" now just handed to you by some delivery guy instead?

What happened to stuff like Navel Rock, Flower Paradise, Birth Island, etc?
What happened to those "Fateful Encounters"?

Where did the soul of these events go? It's all just "oh hello, here's a free Pokemon for you"

Who is talking about the distribution method?

Why can't the delivery guy just hand you a ticket or whatever to go do a quest or something to get the legendary? Something that actually makes you earn that Pokemon, not just literally handing it over for free and nothing else.

That's exactly what they used to be, and Gamefreak still decided it was too much for children. It's retarded logic, because it's not that it's hard for children to wrap their minds around items unlocking event quests, it's that most children don't know how or where to look for distributions. They're advertised very poorly, I didn't get my hands on an event Pokemon until Colosseum's Bonus Disc happened, and I only knew to preorder that because it was actually advertised on TV. Most event distributions don't get that kind of advertising. Most children aren't going to be checking serebii or some other Pokemon fan website every day for news of event distributions.

Basically, I'd wager just as many children are missing out on the events just handed to you as they did back when you actually had to do in-game shit for them. Hell, the in-game shit probably got them talking back in the day. I know it did for me when I was a kid. But Gamefreak is retarded, this is no secret.

Literally this. As a teenager the only event I ever caught notice of was a handed Shaymin with a special move (not even ingame event), and it was entirely by chance that I found out about that.

nobody liked that, it's not fun to have a feature in your game that seems to be tantalizing you with a possible experience and then to find out that the ship has literally sailed and you've basically got on-disk dlc that you're never getting the code to unlock.

just having them fucking handed to you is also stupid, but GF hates deep caves and branching paths so where the hell else are you going to put them?

I completely agree. I don't like that they used to be completely inaccessible past the event dates, but I hate how the mythicals are now just handed over to you without any challenge and barely any in-game backstory.

Here's how they could do it. Firstly, all events for new mythicals give an item that unlocks a quest for them in-game and doesn't just add them to the party. As for distribution, wonder cards for in-game events could be hardcoded into the games and unlocked via online or by inputting a code. Every event should have a universal code that works one time per save file, so in the future anyone could get any major event. And how would they implement new events? Simply just add them in a game update.

It'd have the same charm as the old events without the bs that is unobtainable on-disc DLC, but I doubt they'd do it because kids are apparently dumb and impatient and GameFreak is too lazy to think of interesting extra game content and backstories for their mythicals

what soul nigga? i literally lived in the middle of nowhere which meant i never got a single event mon until gen5 when you could connect to the internet and download cool shit. making mythicals and such IRL exclusive things is bullshit and ostracises a ton of the player base, which were mainly kids back then.
half of the old event mons werent even that cool to get compared to now. it's more or less the same. all you do is go to some remote area specifically designed for that one legendary pokemon, catch it, then leave and never return, like it's really not that big of a fucking deal my dude

This is why all of the event giveaways should be hardcoded into the game and should have an offline method of activating them. You can't miss an event then.

Mythicals nowadays aren't even lore relevant anymore. Marshadow and Zeraroa are just Pokemon that exist and can't breed because they are "special" for no stated reason.
