Reminder that Alola forms were made to pad out the rarer types in gen 1's pokedex in preparation for Lets Go, and with that purpose fulfilled, there won't be any more regional variants.

Gamefreak is full of complete dumbasses who don't know what the fans like and don't like. I mean challenge mode could have easily been a staple of the series moving forward. All you have to do is iron out the flaws of a mechanic. People generally liked the regional form concept and it also helps gamefreak not take up dex slot numbers so they can stall out that over 1000 mark.

Wouldn't mind a poison stantler. Its illusions are supposed to be pheromone based, right? Maybe one that's adapted its scent glands to attack predators or one thats been bred by the bad guys to produce more potent pheromones that they sell as drugs.

There plenty of ice, fire, and fairy now. This doesnt really hold up. Especially because Exeggcutor loses psychic type which is pretty rare and Raichu gains it? Makes no sense.
Same with Ninetails losing fire but Marowak gaining it.
Also the only three pure ground types in the whole region had it taken away and either replaced or added to, lessening diversity. The more I look at it the less sense it makes for your theory.

It would be infeasible and impractical for EVERY type to be rare. The types still have to match the designs.
But it's clear that there was a conscious effort to add as many types rare or non-existant in Kanto as possible.
The exceptions are Raichu and the Golem line, but even then they're notable for having unique type combinations.

Alola forms were still used to make up for the low number of new Gen 7 Pokemon, like Megas did for Gen 6, so if Gen 8 has only 80~ new Pokemon, we'll get forms/variants for old Pokemon.
