It was created by Darkrai because he felt angry and jealous of being Arceus' shadow, so he tried to revive a dead Wurmple, but it could only make a black blob, but that little blob grew more and more until it evolved in the Giratina we know, but it was nothing more than a being made of anger and jealousy against Arceus, so it began to make a ruckus in our planet until Arceus appeared to stop it; it was way too powerful, and he didn't want to kill it, so he made an entire dimension bound to this planet to enclose Giratina forever. In other universes, Darkrai failed and had to live a life of depression.
