>>38252532This. Pokemon games are well known for utilizing really limited capabilities of handheld consoles. Universal animations for moves and events, text dialogs and all that were necessary for pokemon games not so long ago.
Let's see the "solutions" in this thread.
>>38252571This anon suggests overworld encounters instead of random ones.
Ok. Have you seen how that worked out in LGPE? Not only the surprise of meeting new pokemon is lost, but it is even more annoying to see wild pokemon roaming all around than to encounter them randomly in grass. It also looks creepy as fuck when there's giant Tentacruel chasing you in the water.
Okay, you would say that could be fixed with open world model.
This wasn't an option just 2-3 years ago, because the most high-end platform at the time was 3DS.
But now we have Nintendo Switch (which is still 10 years behind modern platforms, but whatever), so now this bold decision can be viable.
But still, it had to be properly implemented. If it would be empty like

And then there's an aspect that this is still a handheld series, so it should be not tedious, quick adventure, play&go format. Open world kinda interferes with that.
So while idea of open world has some merit, it's still questionable if it's appropriate for Pokemon games.
