I love how Chikorita, Chespin and Rowlet are crying. I know it's an aesthetic thing and the others also have colored lines, but on those three specifically it makes it look like they're crying.

in the beginning, the idea was that grass or bug pokemon were generally easier to raise than others. this is why insects are weak, but evolve so early. many grass types evolve with stones. that sort of thing.

it was forgotten about after the first game, and abandoned after the second game.
