Am I an autist for only having dual-type Pokemon on my team with no type overlap? I just want to have a type for every situation, but I think maybe I'm gimping myself out of having cool single-types. What am I missing out on by not using single-types and not type overlapping?

Defensive options and certain stat spreads. Pure Fairy types are pretty amazing defensively, but pure normals also hold some exclusivity to great stat spreads and movepools (Snorlax comes to mind).

Some types, like Ground, have enough neutral coverage that you can generally just smash through even resistances with them. Swampert + Garchomp, for example. Both are ground types but they don't share weaknesses, and both can toss out powerful earthquakes that put dents in some of the bulkiest Pokemon out there, and each provides coverage that the other doesn't have access to (Swampert's Ice Punch and Garchomp's Fire Blast/Fire Fang).

I'm like this. I always tried to get all types in my team.

I did a single type challenge not too long ago, having only pokemon with 1 type in my team. I had a platinum team with:
Primeape
Seaking
Rapidash
Banette
Exploud
And a shiny Marowak I caught as a Cubone in SoulSilver

I also caught a Tropius somewhere along the line that I used as my flyer/HMslave in case I needed it, but I didn't use it for battling.

It was a really fun experiment. I found it made the game a lot harder than normal. It made it a lot more frustrating at times, but it had been a long time since I actually felt proud of my team for beating the pokemon league.

I'd recommend trying it out for once OP. Broaden your horizons like this.
