Anyone here ever beaten the Battle Tower in Crystal? I just finished my dex and its basically the last thing I have in the game, so I'd like to make an attempt at it - a cheesy fucking attempt.

All I can remember when doing this back in the day was even when I cheated in Pokemon I couldn't win. It was like whatever I put in, the enemy was a perfect opposite. Good Luck.

The Tower in Crystal is 7 rounds. Most games are endless but feature a boss at a certain point.

you can use legendaries in the crystal battle tower
the AI is pretty much rigged, they get way more crits, can use the same hold items on each of their pokemon etc
I would recommend using skarmory, as he resists hyper beam and is immune to earthquake, two very common AI moves
watch out for the AI using mean look and whirlpool to trap you

Are you sure? I could have sworn they mentioned that you can't use Mew, Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, Lugia or Celebi. The trios are fair game but they're higher leveled.

I did consider using Skarmory and I may yet still since it has a very good matchup against a lot of the level 10 opponents. Mean Look and Whirlpool are no match against Dragon Rage spam so I should be safe there. Thanks anon.

I once had the bright idea to breed Dragon Rage onto some mons and use them at level 10 in the Battle Tower. Turns out unevolved Pokemon just get steamrollered at that level.

Sorry anon, but I'm unable to do so - I am playing the 3DS version and have no way to transfer my pokemon to Pokemon Stadium 3. Aside from that, I only own Pokemon Stadium 1. From what I've seen when Werster ran the game though, Stadium 2 is brutal.

Yeah I actually duped a few pokemon just to leave at level 50, I really hate how there is no option for open mode and no item that prevents EXP gain. It just means I have to eventually stop using stuff I want to use in the Tower. I wouldn't be going full autist level 10 cheese if this shit was a bit more user friendly.

Dragon Rage strats in general are going to completely flatten level 10 tower unless you're absurdly unlucky (which it totally reasonable to happen considering it's Crystals Battle Tower, but still).

If you want any additional edge past that, after using vitamins on your team, grind entirely on lv 2 hoothoots outside of new bark town, you'll get the maximum possible stat experience that way, and remember that you can grind all the way up until ALMOST hitting level 11, then putting them back in PC and pulling them back out to apply the stat EXP you earned without needing to level up. This might only get you a few points compared to mindless grinding, but every point could count.
