Subjective. The premise is a little out there but it's internally consistent throughout the story as far as i can remember. Besides maybe the fanservice cop out with charizard, that was dumb.

I think you focus too much on the mechanical aspects of that, given that in universe the unown were later expanded upon to match this portrayal in gen 4. Being "useless shitmons" doesn't mean they shouldn't get that spotlight, especially since there is meant to be that big mystery surrounding them in the games. That's a very, for lack of a better word, meta assumption to make.

Watched it 2 days ago on a whim, as well as the short. Not as good as I remember--Oak and Delia did much less than I remembered. M04 and M05 were leagues better.

The first 5 Movies imo are in their own ways the best of the anything Pokemon's ever had animated, while yeah I would agree that Spell of the Unown is the best of the lot, there are qualities to the other four that I think gives them in some aspects an edge over M3.

Reminder that without informing Shudo they changex the script to make it so Molly's mother was hospitalized and not dead, so the movie turned really fucked up because why would she kidnap someone's else mother if hers is alive?
